1930-39

An overview of Student Show's second decade

The 1930s were a very successful decade for the Student Show, with all but one of the production’s staged at His Majesty’s Theatre.

The ‘Northern Lights’ series of revues continued, and after a scaled down production at the Beach Pavilion in 1932, the Student Show returned to HMT, where (barring the occasional year what the theatre was closed for renovation) it has remained to this day.

With this return to the larger venue, the show once again became a large-scale original musical comedy, and was such a success that repeat performances and recordings of the show’s songs were made.
