Beating Time (1938)

‘Beating Time’ was subtitled ‘a musical comedy in three Acts’. Like the earlier ‘Town & Gown’, it was directed by Douglas S. Raitt.

As with the show of 1936, a 78 rpm recording of songs from the show was made by the Aberdeen pianist Jimmy Ross. This was specially recorded at the HMV studios in London, and was available for the audience to buy for two shillings and sixpence.

This was the last 78 rpm record that was produced, it being too much of a financial cost to be repeated again.

A copy of the recording was presented to Aberdeen University Special Collections archive by two ex-cast members of the show, A. Macdonald and Neil Hendry (orthopedic surgeon).
